Time Management

Do you ever find yourself wishing there were more hours in the day? Is overtime becoming the norm for you? Do you wish you had more time to spend doing the things that you really want to do?
Most likely you answered yes to one or more of these questions and feel like you are not really where you want to be in life. Maybe work is not going how you would like. Or you could be feeling guilty because you are not spending enough time at home with your family.

However, don't worry just yet. There is a solution to this problem and it is far easier than you might think. It only takes a few small adjustments in the way you use your time to change your life forever. This is not only about managing your time effectively, it can change your life fundamentally and for the better.

Managing Your Time for Success
You can learn to manage your time skillfully. By following a few simple rules and acquiring good time management habits, you can:
• Get things done on time.
• Avoid last minute rush jobs.
• Feel prepared and confident.
• Have time left over for yourself.
• Get the most out of each day.

How Do You Spend Your Time?
Do an inventory of yesterday’s activities. Write down everything you did and show the amount of
time you spent doing it. Now go back and look at how much time you truly utilized and how much time you squandered. Label activities with an “I” (important), “S” (semi-important), or a
“U” (unimportant). If possible, do an inventory like this for every day for a week. Look for patterns. For example, what parts of the day do you tend to waste time? Use this information to devise strategies for eliminating time-wasters.

Set Goals
To manage your time well, you have to figure out
what you want to accomplish. In other words, what
are your goals? The trick is to set deliberate goals
in areas that count, like:
• the grade you will work for in each subject or
class
• the number of books you will read during the
year
• your specific role in various school groups or
teams (speech, science, sports, music, drama,
etc.)
To complete the picture, you may also need to set
goals in areas unrelated to school, such as leisure
activities. Things like piano lessons and martial arts
classes are important—and they can take a lot of
time.

Some goals are short-term. These can be accomplished
in a few hours or days. Examples are passing
a test, writing a report or reading a particular
book.

Make a list of your goals.
School/learning goals:
Long-range—
Short-term—
Non-school goals:
Long-range—
Short-term—
Now go back and prioritize your goals. Write an A, B,
or C next to each one to show its relative importance.

Plan and Prioritize
Now that you have your goals, list the specific steps
or activities required to reach them. Since you can’t
do everything at once, number the steps or activities
in their order of importance or sequence. Do at
least one activity each day from your lists. Concentrate
on the most important goals first. Check off
the activities when you have completed them.

Carry a Planning Calendar
A planning calendar is the most effective time management
tool you can use. Carry one with you and
use it to record all the things you must do—class
schedule, homework assignments and due dates,
special school events, field trips and meetings.
Record personal things, too, such as birthdays,
appointments, lessons, work schedules and chores.

Write every assignment in the calendar as soon as
you know about it. At least once a month check your
calendar against your family’s schedule to make
sure there are no conflicts.

Make To-Do Lists
Each day (or the night before) make a to-do list.
Copy any appointments, meetings and due dates
from your calendar, and add anything else that
needs to be done that day. Prioritize your list so
that the most important things get done first. Refer
to your list several times a a day. It’s a lot easier
than trying to remember everything.
Use Assignment Sheets
It’s a good idea to keep a master list of school
assignments. Record homework assignments, reports
and special projects on an assignment sheet
as soon as you get them—even before putting the
dates in your planning calendar. Keep one in the
front of your notebook.

Follow These Time Management Tips
• Record your assignments before you leave
class. If you don’t understand an assignment,
ask.
• When you get home from school, check your
planning calendar or to-do list. Do whatever it
tells you to do. Don’t let yourself get sidetracked
by phone calls, TV, computer games,
etc.
• If you have a cell phone, turn it off while
studying.
• Do the toughest part of an assignment first.
Get through the most difficult parts while your
energy is high.
• Don’t procrastinate. Try this:
* Break down tasks into smaller parts.
Keep breaking down the parts until you
see the first step.
* Break down difficult tasks into “minijobs”
that you can complete in 10 minutes
or less.
• Get everything ready for school the night
before. Put your things in the same place
every night.
• Get up early and review for tests before going
to school

Healthy Lifestyle

Love Your Life

What does a healthy lifestyle means? In general, a healthy person doesn't smoke, is at a healthy weight, eats healthy and exercises. Sounds simple, doesn't it? No, I don’t think so. For me, a healthy lifestyle means maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet as well as engaging in sports or other fitness related activities, enjoy life with no stress.

A healthy diet alone however is inadequate to ensure a healthy body as physical activity helps to keep one in shape and free of sickness and disease. The trick to healthy living is making small changes. Taking more steps, adding fruit to your cereal, having an extra glass of water. These are just a few ways you can start living healthy without drastic changes.
According to the World Health Organization, only one in ten people exercise regularly and a majority do not follow a healthy diet. The main culprit is our penchant for junk food as can be seen from the popularity of fast food chains and other western eateries. Even local foods such as fried noodles, friend rice and snacks and savouries are laden with fat and calories. Thus, consuming this type of food on a daily basis can contribute to weight gain. Overweight and obese people suffer from many health complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even cancer.

Dining out usually involves eating heavily and unhealthily. Most of us are prone to ordering deep fried food and oily dishes as opposed to steamed or baked food. Thus, though eating out is an unavoidable, parent of children and adults as a hole should order fresh food and foods that are nutritious and not laden with oil, fat or sugar. Once a pattern of healthy eating is established, it would be easier to carry through such a lifestyle and for the children to follow suit.

School canteens must be urged to sell only highly nutritious food and drinks. Vending machines that sell soft drinks and drinks that are spiked with sugar should be banned. Hence, school going children would be exposed to healthy eating form young.

Daily exercise is vital. In fact, schools should implement Physical education on a daily basis rather than twice weekly. Only the minority are actively involved in sports. Most students are sedentary and prefer to concentrate on their studies as they consider indulging in physical activities a waste of time. By enforcing regular exercise daily, these students would be exposed to the importance and benefits of exercise.

Physical with your family. Play games, take a walk...almost anything will be more active than sitting on the couch. Walk more. Look for small ways to walk more. When you get the mail, take a walk around the block, take the dog for an extra outing each day or walk on your treadmill for 5 minutes before getting ready for work. Do some chores. Shovelling snow, working in the garden, raking leaves, sweeping the floor. These kinds of activities may not be 'vigorous' exercise, but they can keep you moving while getting your house in order.

Pace while you talk. When you're on the phone, pace around or even do some cleaning while gabbing. This is a great way to stay moving while doing something you enjoy. Be aware. Make a list of all the physical activities you do on a typical day. If you find that the bulk of your time is spent sitting, make another list of all the ways you could move more--getting up each hour to stretch or walk, walk the stairs at work.

Eating a healthy diet is another part of the healthy lifestyle. Not only can a clean diet help with weight management, it can also improve your health and quality of life as you get older. You can use the new My Plate to determine how many calories you need and what food groups you should focus on or, if you're looking for smaller changes, you can use these tips for simple ways to change how you eat. Eat more fruit. Add it to your cereal, your salads or even your dinner .Sneak in more veggies. Add them wherever you can--a tomato on your sandwich, peppers on your pizza, or extra veggies in your pasta sauce.

Keep pre-cut or canned/frozen veggies ready for quick snacks. Switch your salad dressing. If you eat full-fat dressing, switch to something lighter and you'll automatically eat less calories. Eat low-fat or fat-free dairy. Switching to skim milk or fat free yogurt is another simple way to eat fewer calories without having to change too much in your diet. Make some substitutes. Look through your cabinets or fridge and pick 3 foods you eat every day. Write down the nutritional content and, the next time you're at the store, find lower-calorie substitutes for just those 3 items.

One of the biggest problems in America today is lack of activity. We know it's good for us but avoid it like the plague either because we're used to being sedentary or afraid that exercise has to be vigorous to be worth our time. The truth is, movement is movement and the more you do, the healthier you'll be. Even moderate activities like chores, gardening and walking can make a difference.

Trust yourself and give a try on it ! =)
Ok, now we see many ways to have a healthy lifestyle right? Do you ready for it? Try more and wish you all can be healthy always. Good luck ya!

Ways to Become A Good Student

As you all know, good student is not only perform well in study, they should have learned others skills in life and try to make it better. Now, let’s see how to make yourself being a good student.
Let's Look !

Firstly, practice positive values such as hard-working, responsible, kind-hearted and others. The moral values that a student should learn are to be hard-working and responsible. While you are practicing these values, you will find out that you are changing to be more polite, quite and having a correct mental support. So, when you are facing with any problems, you will keep calm and tried to think for the practical solution.
“Practice make perfect. “ You should always practice to make yourself better and better. There is no one born to be perfect, but he can make himself better. Try to mix with the right peers and joined others into a study groups. It will not help you to study and also to rising your relationship with your friends, don’t it is just like killing two birds with one stone?
Is that having a A already enough to be good student ?

Extracurricular activities can be defined as non-academic activities organized by the school to enhance personal development as well as provide a well-rounded education. Character buildings, acquisition of new skills, values and qualities as well as the formation of new and lasting friendships are just some of these advantages that a student should get. Furthermore, the uses of the leisure time for extracurricular activities discourage students’ involvement in undesirable activities. As such, every student should participate in extracurricular activities.
There is a poem named ‘Leisure’ saying that nowadays, “…We have no time to stand and stare…”  What’s this sentence trying to tell us? Don’t it is just telling that people nowadays didn’t have their own time to do what they want?  Yes, it’s right! And what you should do is spend your time wisely. Plan yourself a personal timetable and work the plan. Record what you had done and plan for tomorrow. Make yourself having enough rest to study longer. Enjoy you time, study happily and not to be stress during your study section, don’t make yourself regret in future!
Live your life. Breakfast is an important meal that every student should take everyday. It gives us sufficient energy to perform our works. You should make yourself healthy always. “An apple a day, keeps a doctor away.” Fruits and vegetables contain many vitamins inside. As a student, we may try to eat more these to maintain ourselves being healthy.

We also mentioned the necessity to attend class regularly. It will help in learning the material and also in getting familiar with the instructor. Knowing the instructor is really important especially in preparation for the exam. It will help the student know what to prioritize when studying.
Setting goals is the step a person can take in order to gain the motivation they need to become a better student. There are two types of goals, short term and long term. Short-term goals are usually less than six months. A student should always set short-term goals for themselves in the beginning of a semester and a long-term goal for their future. Setting short-term and long-term goals early in life is positive tool in order for a student to be successful in their future.

A good student must learn and explore something new. Everything would indeed seem very easy and enjoyable if we think of school as a place for discovering our self as person not as a frustrating place where we are always pressured by a tremendous amount of work. Just like the poet who writes ‘I Wonder’, she make herself to has more curiosity in what she think, for example she is asking who taught the birds to build a nest? Who paints the rainbow? And also other questions that can’t be explain easily. We should learn that, we should make ourselves think to be creative for having a good writing.

Well, that’s some ways to make yourself to be a good student. Do you ready for it? Give yourself a try! Everybody is useful, make your future brightly! If life is a paper, paint it colourful, and not just black and white!
Wish you all success ! =)
